Charlotte Reagan, or Charli Bear, was born on October 9, 2018 at 5:35 in the morning. She was delivered via emergency C-section at 36 weeks due to decelerations in the womb, but born otherwise very healthy. Charli hit all her milestones and was thriving; never having a stay in the NICU, and coming home at 3 days old.
Despite a short hospital visit due to RSV at one month, Charlotte was quite the personality and grower! She loved spending tummy time on daddy's face, and eating every ounce of milk from mommy! She was the light of everyone's life who had the opportunity to meet her, leaving an everlasting impression of that infectious smile on their hearts. She rarely cried, and when she did, it was because she was hangry (she got that from her mommy too). She was, in every sense of the words, the perfect baby.
Then, on December 16, 2018, the morning of my 30th birthday, we awoke to find Charlotte breathless and still. Charlotte Reagan McCann, Charli Bear, died of SIDS some time between 12:00 and 3:00 in the morning.
We knew we had to do something. We feel we have to be there for parents who are going through this too. A portion of every sale will be donated to SIDS research, in the hopes that one day, no one will ever have to go through this.
The days, and even the weeks following her death were extremely difficult. There was nothing anyone could say or do to make us feel any comfort. Her uncle Easton, my brother, thought of an idea to get tattoos memorializing Charlotte. While I thought it was a cool idea, I had never had any tattoos, nor had I ever really thought of anything I would want. He looked up a tradition called Ritual Ink, and told me about how we could get tattoos with some of her remains actually in the ink!
While I probably wouldn't have just gotten a regular tattoo, I knew then I had to have a Ritual Tattoo. We found a local artist in Jacksonville, FL, who was excited to be a part of this, and he agreed he would do the tattoos with the Ritual Ink. Eighteen of our friends and family got tattoos over the next few weeks, allowing her to be with them. I had never felt more honored, nor proud, in my life.
It felt like a calling. I knew I wanted to help others feel that feeling. The feeling that, quite honestly, I never knew I would have again. So four months later, we founded Your Angel's Ink, in honor of our Charli Bear and Guardian Angel. We hope that you get as much comfort and joy knowing your loved one will be with you forever as we do. That is why we take extra care to treat your loved one as if they were our own. We have been through this process and we want to make sure we are there for anyone else going through something similar.
We thank you so much for choosing Your Angel's Ink.
